My honourable teacher Hadhrat Mawlānā Umarji Sāhib rahimahullāh was a very pious, friendly, humble person of noble character. He would stay away from unnecessarily mixing with people, from being involved in disputation and from all forms of useless activity. Home, masjid and madrasah: that was his life.

I had the good fortune to study Al-Hidāyah, Mantiq and Mīrāth under his tutelage. His method of teaching was excellent: he would render the books he taught us into a form we could easily digest. He was extremely kind and compassionate. He had great love for the pious elders; he was himself imbued with piety, and had a great inclination towards the pious.

Another special quality was the way he would encourage and assist his juniors. He would meet young and old with the best of akhlāq. He cannot have a single student who has cause for any complaint against him.

I feel much grief due to his departure, for he was very affectionate towards me. Whenever I would meet him he would express astonishing affection. He would give du'ās. He would insist on taking me to his home and would offer his hospitality. From time to time he would send gifts. His every action would effuse love and sincerity. Even now, his smiling countenance is before my eyes.

Good people have a good death too. The final moments of his life were spent in the blessed madrasah environs, in the company of the 'ulamā and mashāyikh. After performing 'Ishā he spent the night in the madrasah library, with the intention of Fajr. During this time, in this radiant and blessed place, Allāh ta'ālā summoned him, and he was blessed with such an enviable departure. He has gone to Allāh ta'ālā, and we are left with his beautiful memories.

May Allāh ta'ālā, according to His greatness, grant him recompense, and grant him a lofty abode in the a'lā 'illiyyīn.

I humbly request all readers to diligently do du'ā and isāl-uth-thawāb for the deceased, and to request others to do the same.
